Background Images
To create background images for website banners or visual novels 3D scenes were intentionally rendered with a shallow depth of field.
This gives the background images a blurred look while still simulating camera effects like Bokeh.
Text or character sprites can be added on a layer above the background images.
Environment and light emisson settings can be adjusted to render the same scene with different lighting.
Image Variations
A custom 3D mesh was created in Pixologic ZBrush based on a simple ladybug drawing.
The mesh was imported in different 3D scenes.
For each image variation the shader of the mesh was altered to fit the surounding environment.
Individual props can added to the 3D scene, moved, rotated or scaled to a different size.
The color of individual surfaces and their physical properties can be adjusted to achieve the desired look.
